Regent Ouderkirk Visits W.C. S.

New York State Department of Education Regent Beverly Ouderkirk visited Wells Central School on the morning of April 25, 2017. Her goal was to see education in action in a small school setting, and WCS teachers and students did not disappoint! Superintendent Thomas Sincavage, District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel and BOE Vice President Cathie Rust accompanied Ms. Ouderkirk throughout her tour of the school.

Her morning began with observing Mr.Pruden’s Earth Science Class for part of a period. From there, she audited Mrs. Kraebel’s Elementary Music Class, Mrs. Richardson’s 3rd Grade Class, Ms. Davis’ Creative Writing Class (which is broadcast via the distance learning lab), Mr. Bornt’s Global II Class and lastly, Mr. Richard’s Transportation Systems Class. She asked many great questions of the teachers and seemed impressed with the answers. During her visit, she also briefly entered several other classrooms, interacting with teachers and students.

Regent Ouderkirk was very complimentary of the care taken with our building maintenance, our students and staff, and she was impressed and somewhat surprised at the substantial number of different course offerings and the amount of technology that we use daily in teaching students. She said that we should be proud of the wonderful job we are all doing for our students.
