Wells Central School Announces its Top Two Students

Congratulations to Ruby Welch, Valedictorian, and Ryleigh Ralph, Salutatorian for the Class of 2026!
Ruby Welch, has been named the Valedictorian of the Wells Central School Class of 2026. Ruby is the daughter of Maggie and Steve Welch of Wells, NY. Ruby is currently participating in the early admit program at Fulton Montgomery Community College for her senior year. She has been involved in the Student Council and the Tech and Transportation club. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, and Drama Club. Outside of school Ruby is a youth leader, helping with the One District One book reading program, assisting with the Red Cross blood drives, the Community Pride Day, and the local food drive. She also has earned her black belt in Karate. Along with this, Ruby has been teaching multiple karate classes regularly for both children and adults for the past four years, as well as earning medals and trophies at many tournaments throughout the years. At graduation, she will receive the Seal of Bi-Literacy and an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. Ruby will be continuing at Fulton Montgomery Community College in the fall to complete her associate’s degree in business and marketing.
Ryleigh Ralph, has been named the Salutatorian of the Wells Central School Class of 2026. Ryleigh is the daughter of Stacy Mattice and John Ralph of Wells, NY. Ryleigh is currently enrolled in the HFM BOCES New Visions Program at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Ryleigh is part of the National Honor Society, a member of the Athletic Association, International Club, SADD club president, student council vice president, and Yearbook Club. She has been on the Varsity Basketball team and is one of the captains. She also has assisted with our elementary basketball program by refereeing many of their games. Outside of school Ryleigh can be found volunteering with the Red Cross blood drives, helping with the One District One book reading program, food drives in partnership with the Regional Food bank, helping with the church’s chicken dinners, and the Community Pride Day. Her summer jobs have entailed working at the busy Fire Tower Pizza restaurant and Oak mountain this past winter. Ryleigh will receive the seal of Bi-Literacy, seal of civic readiness, and an Advanced Regents Diploma at graduation. Ryleigh plans on attending SUNY Albany in Albany, NY. She has been accepted into the nursing program to become an RN, and then she is pursuing her Nurse practitioner degree.
